The "Masters of Turkish Printmaking Art from Gazi" Lecture, Workshop, and Exhibition Events Were Held with Strong Participation

In commemoration of the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, the "Masters of Turkish Printmaking Art from Gazi" event, consisting of a lecture, workshop, and exhibition, was held on October 22 and 23, 2024. The event concluded with a workshop on the final day.

The opening speech was delivered by our Department Chair, Prof. Dr. Osman Çaydere. On the first day of the event, distinguished master artists from Gazi shared their experiences in art and art education during the lecture and responded sincerely to the questions posed. The lecture, moderated by our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Aslan, took place in the Neşe Yağız Conference Hall and featured prominent artists Ahmet Aydın Kaptan, Atilla Atar, Güler Akalan, Hasan Pekmezci, Hayati Misman, and Süleyman Saim Tekcan as speakers. The event attracted great interest, and due to his busy schedule, Süleyman Saim Tekcan participated via teleconference.

After the lecture, at 3:30 PM, the printmaking exhibition was opened at the Malik Aksel Art Gallery with a speech by Gazi University Rector Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal. The exhibition featured works by respected artists Ahmet Aydın Kaptan, Atilla Atar, Güler Akalan, Hasan Pekmezci, Hayati Misman, Mustafa Aslıer, Muammer Bakır, Mürşide İçmeli, Nevzat Akoral, Süleyman Saim Tekcan, and Şükrü Ertürk.

On the closing day of the event, workshops on lithography by Atilla Atar and engraving by Ahmet Aydın Kaptan and Güler Akalan were held with strong participation, bringing the event to a successful conclusion.
